Take flight for the summer! A beginner-friendly aerial class for ages 18+
Time & Location
Jul 13, 2024, 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM EDT
5th Wall Studio, 156 N 4th St, Brooklyn, NY 11211, USA
About the event
In this class, we will start from the floor and together we will learn step-by-step the basic aerial vocabulary, core-strength and balance skills, plus build the confidence to ease your way into the air. You will leave feeling accomplished trying something new with this fun and challenging activity! You will have the opportunity to try the aerial silks and lyra (hoop).
What to wear:
- Form fitting clothing that you would wear for exercising
- Similar to a dance class - Socks are optional, but most are barefoot
- Long, dangling jewlery, and watches should be removed - this could harm you and/or damage the equipment
Questions/Concerns:
1) "Do I need to already have arm strength to take the class?"
- Not at all. Come just as you are! We will start where you are at today, taking note of any injuries or movement limitations for your body. Every student has been pleasantly surprised with what they can accomplish in the intro/beginner class!
2) "I am afraid of heights. I also do not want to hurt myself, I have seen videos and it looks dangerous!"
- I completely understand your concern. As your instructor (for probably the very first time), your safety is my number one priorty. You are not forced to do anything that you are not comfortable with in class. I always make a point to break down the movement as simple as possible for all. Also, there are plenty of skills you can attempt from less than a foot above the floor!
